Bronwen Evans

When I graduated from university and began my time at Moonlight Media, I had very little experience of the PR sector or of how such agencies are run on a daily basis, aside from brief introductions to the field that I received from my Communications degree. I also had little self-assurance when speaking to senior colleagues in a professional environment, having only ever done bar work in the past. However the attention I have been given and challenges I have been presented with during my internship have made me confident that I can be successful within a promising career, whether I enter into public relations or a separate industry.

During my internship I have been consistently and wholly invited to take part in whatever is being worked on and encouraged to carry out tasks that involve liaising with senior members within the financial industry and press to complete my work. I believe that this direct immersion into the varied activities undertaken by a PR agency has given me a far better understanding of how to conduct myself and my work in a communications oriented environment. I have also been allowed the opportunity to develop my writing skills through the drafting of press releases, as well as honing techniques with which to conduct varied forms of research. This has given me the ability to easily complete tasks that once seemed almost impossible to me.

What has been obvious at every point of my time at Moonlight is that everyone I have worked with has been extremely forthcoming in offering me any knowledge or experience they have that could help me in my daily tasks, as well as in the future. John and Alla have been especially concerned with making sure that I am included in current projects and that I am given the chance to take on challenges that I would not have had the confidence to ask to be involved in. The first-hand knowledge and advice that they have offered me has made my internship an incredibly valuable experience, without which I would have little ability to complete organised tasks or communicate with C level corporation and press members.

I will leave Moonlight with more confidence in myself and others as I never expected to be included by my colleagues as much as I have been, or to have learnt as much as I have. It has been a genuine pleasure to have worked with people who really want you to do well and have only asked for me to learn from them in return.
